The untimely death of king of pop Michael Jackson had led to a surge of memorabilia being listed on auction sites worldwide. eBay - saw a surge in items related to the global superstar put on sale overnight, following his death in Los Angeles on Thursday. Thousands of records, DVDs and one-off items were on sale, including an original signed Fedora hat – one of Jackson's trademarks – for sale for £5,950. Indeed eBay UK's list of Popular Search Terms shows that for memorabilia Michael Jackson items have shot into first place.
Along with the genuine memorabilia hundreds of hastily-printed "Jacko memorial T-shirts", key rings and even computer mouse mats appeared on the popular internet auction site.
