Tazbar which launched in August 2006 today announced its closure to members. Started by a small number of auction sellers who had become disillusioned with increasing costs & reduced sales at other alternative auction venues it had initially grown to become a reasonably busy marketplace. Launched with much fanfare and eventually using TV adverts in the UK to promote the site it had a loyal band of followers.
The announcement read "Tazbar.com will cease to trade as an online auction venue on the 16th July 2009. This is purely a commercial decision and doesn’t reflect on the wonderful people that we have met and had the pleasure of being involved with during the lifetime of the website."
Over on the forums at Tazbar regular users are just taking in the news and are voicing their regret at its closure. Many are asking the question as to whether it can be saved and if not what other viable alternatives they have available. eBid, CQOut & Specialist Auctions seem at this point to be the front runners with many preferring these options rather than eBay.
